January 1, Pelosi Dares Trump to Testify on Impeachment

Hundreds of followers of cult leader Jim Jones commit mass suicide in the South American country of Guyana. The followers drank a fruit punch laced with poison. This is origins of the term “drinking the cool aide”.

Good Morning Middle Americans.

Happy Monday. It’s another big week of impeachment hearings. And by big week – we mean another week that includes a list some might describe as more, “who’s that?’ than “who’s who”.   House speaker Nancy Pelosi is practically begging President Trump to come to Capitol Hill and testify in his impeachment hearings. Pelosi and democrats are desperate for something to move the needle. The American public is yet to hear from someone who actually was a first hand witness to the “quid pro quo” that supposedly took place on that July phone call between the president to the United States and the president of Ukraine.

In other news, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy wrote a letter to ABC news demanding answers on why the network decided to spike Anchor Amy Robach’s story on the sex offender.

And it was the “colab” no one saw coming, and no one really asked for either. But evangelist Joel Osteen and rapper Kayne West had a big get together on Sunday. And it’s hard to figure out what’s going on. But it looks good for both Kanye and Osteen’s – in terms of the sizes of their flocks.

Read all about it below.

Nancy Pelosi: The President has Every Opportunity to Present His Case

(CBS News) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refuted Republicans’ claims that President Trump has not had the opportunity for due process in the impeachment inquiry, saying that the president has “every opportunity to present his case.”

“The president could come right before the committee and talk, speak all the truth that he wants if he wants,” Pelosi said in an exclusive interview with “Face the Nation” moderator Margaret Brennan that aired Sunday. “He has every opportunity to present his case.”

Pelosi also said that she believed the president’s actions were worse than those of former President Richard Nixon.

McCarthy Demands Answers from ABC News on Epstein

(Fox News) – House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and two other top Republicans sent a letter to ABC News on Sunday demanding the network explain why it “quashed” ABC News anchor Amy Robach’s story that would have exposed allegations against the now-deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein three years ago.

The letter, to ABC News President James Goldston, was first reported by Megyn Kelly, formerly of Fox News. House Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Member Mike McCaul of Texas and House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Doug Collins of Georgia also signed it.

Kanye West Packs Joel Osteen’s Houston Mega-Church

Kanye West Takes Joel Osteen to Church

(Texas Monthly) – Pastor Joel Osteen will welcome Kanye West to his Houston megachurch Sunday morning. Strange as their collaboration may seem, West and Osteen “are friends,” a Lakewood Church representative told the Houston Chronicle, having long ago set aside ideological differences over helping people during hurricanes to find common ground in their Christian faith.

West recently recommitted his life to God and/or released an album, Jesus Is King, whose songs preach of the Lord’s awesome power to deliver you from the temptation of Instagram likes, and lead you toward finer, more expensive things.

This is the precisely the kind of down-home prosperity gospel that’s music to Osteen’s ears, of course, which should make their planned conversation about “Kanye’s journey to faith” an illuminating one—at least until West inevitably goes off on a tangent about Drake, or how God called upon him to make weird algae shoes.

God’s humble servant (who’s currently mulling a name change to “Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West”) will return to perform at 7 p.m. with his traveling choir, stars of the weekly Sunday Service events that many regard as Kanye’s practice run for a megachurch of his own. You can become an early convert by tuning in via TV, SiriusXM, or Lakewood’s website, or simply following the aghast live-tweets.
